JoJo Maman Bébé have launched their From a Mother to Another charity campaign this week. The aim is to reduce the shocking levels of unwanted clothing that ends up in a landfill whilst helping those in need in the UK with distribution via food banks plus helping thousands of Syrian refugees living in Lebanon.
Mummy is very proud to be a Blogger Ambassador for this fantastic campaign, and we are keen to spread the word to as many mothers as possible.
JoJo will be collecting good quality unwanted baby and children’s clothes sizes 0-6 years, at their 72 stores across the UK and Ireland. Customers are asked to make up complete outfits to give something worthwhile this mother’s day.
HERE IS HOW TO HELP:
• Make up 2 or more complete outfits from your child’s little worn, nearly new or
outgrown clothes in sizes 0-6 years.
• Wash and check that the clothes make a perfect outfit you would be proud to
dress your own child in.
• Place in a clear plastic bag and label with size/sex/season. E.g. 0-3mths/boys/summer.
• Deliver to a JoJo store any time from now until 5th March 2016.
JoJo are offering a £5 thank you gift voucher when two or more unwanted or outgrown good
quality outfits are donated to store. (One voucher per customer. Valid with a £35 minimum
spend).
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
• JoJo will double check all donations and where needed will add extra items. They will then
pack into gorgeous gift bags to deliver to our partner charities for distribution.
• They cover the cost for sorting staff and all delivery costs to our charity partners.
• They cover all the shipping costs, import tax and onward distribution to the Syrian
refugees in Lebanon.
Did you know that nearly a third of the UK’s unwanted clothing ends up in landfill, which is 350,000 tonnes a year.
The emergency clothing packs will be distributed by some of the Trussell Trust’s 420 Foodbanks across the UK and by a number of partner charities on the ground in Lebanon.
Helen Frank’s from Trussell Trust explains why she jumped at the chance to get involved; “I am delighted Trussell Trust Foodbanks will be participating in the From A Mother To Another campaign with JoJo, it is a natural fit to The Trussell Trust’s ‘More Than Food’ approach, which offers additional services to help alleviate poverty in the UK. Over a third of three day emergency food supplies provided by Trussell Trust foodbanks go to children in crisis. From a Mother to Another is a perfect way for one mum to bring a little light and a lot of comfort to another.”

This is a brilliant idea. I try to give our clothes away at school, but you invariably find stuff which you cant match to the right age out of your friends and family. I’ll definitely see if I can join in with this 🙂

This is such a fantastic idea. I really hate the thought of clothes going to landfill, it’s just creating more rubbish when so many could make use of them. I always try to give old clothes to charity shops.

Such a great campaign, I hate the fact that so many clothes end up in landfill sites, this is going to benefit the environment as well as the refugees. Thank you for letting me know, I’ll spread the word.

This is such a great idea, you can always rely on JoJo’s to be giving back to the community. We had a sort out a couple of months ago and donated two black sacks to a friend of friend who ha just had a little boy. She was so grateful she cried. We will be donating all of Monkey’s old clothes once our second has used them too. xx

What a fantastic idea! I have always loved JoJo, so I shall definitely be joining in. Normally I donate ours to friends with younger children, but there is a dry period now of no one having small enough kids, so this is the perfect solution 🙂
