Taster Cruises from £249

It is Travel Tuesday again, and we want to talk to you about cruising. Have you ever been on a cruise? If not, you may wonder what it is like – and one of the most asked questions is ‘Will I get sea sick?’ Well, why not try one of many taster cruises from £249?

Mummy has been on a few of these, and says they are a brilliant way to see if cruising is for you. Usually one or two nights, sailing from Southampton, you really get the full experience of parking and checking in at the port, embarking the ship, and having the big sail off. And none of the hassle, extra charges or luggage size and weight restrictions of flying.

Taster Cruises from £249

The first night sees a full dining experience, where you can dress up a much as you want. Some will wear full dinner suits and gowns, or you can dress less formally. Enjoy the entertainment after your meal, and finish off with a dance, or a little flutter in the casino.

Wake up at the next port – that is the best thing about cruising, you have fun whilst you are travelling! Enjoy breakfast over looking the port, or a seaview.

You can choose to just stay on board for the trip, or you may decide to explore the port(s) you arrive in. Mummy has been to Zeebrugge where she caught the train into Bruges.

If you do stay on board you could choose an activity or a spa treatment, or just relax by the pool. Curl up with a book in a cosy corner, or visit the gym. There is so much to do, you will always find something – as well as eating!

We have searched around for you to bring together some great taster cruises available this year. You really can cruise from £249, and with accommodation, food and all entertainment included, cruising is great value for money.

Taster Cruises from £249 (2)

P&O Cruises – 2 nights. Southampton to Zeebrugge from £249 pp 16 February 2016 – The ship is the Ventura which is family friendly.

Princess Cruises – 3 nights. Southampton to Guernsey from £249pp 23 April 2016 – The ship is The Emerald Princess which is family friendly. Mummy went on board another Princess cruise ship The Royal Princess last year.

Royal Caribbean – 3 nights. Southampton to Zeebrugge and Normandy from £299pp 23 October 2016 – The ship is the Independence of the Seas which is family friendly.

There are lots more cruise lines offering all sorts of cruises, but these are three of the best we have found. What do you think, are you tempted?

Oh, and don’t worry about getting sea sick, these ships are so huge that you barely know you are even on a ship. My Nan suffers terrible travel sickness and has cruised a few times with no problems at all 😉

  4. I worked on cruise ships for three years as Shore Excursions Mgr, it was an incredible experience:) Like you, I would definitely recommend a short cruise as an ideal way of literally testing the waters! Crew/officers used to love the Zeebrugge weekend cruises as the passengers always boarded the ship ready for a good time! The three cruises you have selected above offer excellent value for money especially as they will include fantastic entertainment as well as accommodation (and most probably food?)

  7. I have been on a ferry before but never a cruise. Because I get so sick it is not a viable concept for me but I like that they are shorter than the norm!
