The Royal Son Bou Family Club, Menorca

You must know by now that we love Menorca, we visited in September for the fifth time. We were guests of The Royal Son Bou Family Club, and had a week of sheer heaven.

We stayed last September too, and were so excited to visit again. The hotel is just stunning, and has absolutely everything we need for the perfect family holiday.

Last year we stayed in a two bedroom apartment, this year we had a one bedroom one, overlooking the main pool. I slept in the bedroom with Mummy, and Lea and Luke slept on the sofa bed which made up two single beds. WOW! The view from our balcony was just awesome.

The apartment had everything – a fully equipped little kitchenette with fridge, hob and sink, a bathroom with loo, two sinks and a bath with two shower heads. The bathroom was fully stocked with toiletries, hand wash and hair and body wash in dispensers. All towels were also supplied (including pool towels) and lovely ladies came in every day to make our beds, clean through and change the towels if they needed to.

The heating / air conditioning system was perfect – this year we had hotter weather than last year (It was 23 – 26 degrees every day!) and Mummy could control exactly how cool our apartment was.

Everything was available for us, high chair, travel cot, even pushchair hire.

We stayed All Inclusive – you can also stay Half Board. The food was just incredible. The choice, quality and variety cannot be beaten. We will be sharing more about the food with you in another post.

So, what changes did we see this year?

La Basillica is one of two restaurants at The Royal Son Bou Family Club (and our favourite of the two) overlooking the children’s pool and giving a view of the sun setting over the sea that is just beautiful. Last year the windows were plastic – kind of like a marquee style, although the restaurant is a proper building. The window walls could be rolled up in hot weather, or to see the sunset. This year there are lovely new proper metal sliding doors with panoramic full length and width windows. They are so much better.

Other changes are the canopies over the sun beds on the bridge over the main pool, giving lots of shade from the hot sun. We have been to Menorca in July and know it gets so very hot. You can see the canopies in this photo of Mummy and I.

We also noticed that inside the main reception and upstairs outside Los Olivos restaurant there are some gorgeous new mural paintings by an artist from Barcelona.

There is new flooring in Magic Land – the creche next to Los Olivos restaurant where little ones can be left safely to play whilst Mummies and Daddies enjoy a peaceful dinner.
