The Royal Son Bou Family Club #2

If you read our blog regularly (and we hope you do!) you will know that we were invited to The Royal Son Bou Family Club in Menorca in September, on an all inclusive weeks holiday.

As us Brits are starting to think about booking our holiday for next year, we want to share more of our holiday with you – to show you what a fantastic place this hotel is, and why it is perfect for families.

This post is all about the food. Please be warned – there are lots of photos that will make you very hungry!

We were lucky enough to have stayed all inclusive, the other option is half board. We have never stayed all inclusive before, so were very excited to see exactly what was included.

Ok, to start with, there was breakfast in the two restaurants – La Basillica and Los Olivos. Our apartment was near La Basillica, so we did tend to eat here more. It has stunning views of the sea, and we felt was a little less formal than Los Olivos (although we did love it there too, and were always made to feel so welcome).

Breakfast was a buffet style of hot and cold food, coffees, teas, juices, milk and hot chocolate. There was everything we could hope for including pastries, cereals, breads, sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, meats and much more. There was also fresh fruit and yoghurt and a lovely lady made omelettes in front of us. Mummy and Lea loved these! They could choose their filling too.

Similar food and drink was available every morning in Los Olivos too.

Throughout the day there was (all included):

Ice Cream – including ice lollies, cones, magnum-type and cornetto type ice cream. (My favourite part!)

Soft drinks – branded Coca Cola, still and sparkling water, Sprite, Fanta.

Coffee including cappuccino, mocha, latte. (Making Mummy VERY happy!)

Cocktails – alcohol and alcohol free. (Big bro and sis loved the Hookies!)

Wine – red, white or rose.

Beer

Sangria – with cava or red wine in jugs. Mummy LOVED this with her dinner.

Lunchtime at La Basillica saw hot snacks such as hot dogs and toasted sandwiches, or in Los Olivos we could sit down for a hot meal, with food similar to the evening meal.

Dinner Time was from 6pm or 6.30pm and was incredible. Again, we loved La Basiilica and watching the sunset over the sea, but the views in Los Olivos were beautiful too.

Every evening there was a Pasta Show in La Basillica, where a chef cooked fresh pasta in front of us as we queued to choose our pasta sauce and to add a choice of meat, vegetables, spices from a wide selection.

Every lunch and dinner offered a wide range of fresh meat and fish – with many cooked to order in front of us. Pizza, many different pasta dishes, a great selection of vegetables and potatoes, a range of breads and much more was available at every sitting. There were also lots of yummy deserts, cakes and different flavour ice cream.

Children are specially catered for, with plastic bowls, plates and cutlery in both restaurants, positioned on lower level shelves so I could reach them. Los Olivos has a separate lower food server with foods such as chips, fish, burgers, vegetables and older children could help themselves. Next to this was more plastic cutlery and plates for us.

There is also clear information displayed about ingredients for people who have any allergies.

Mummy used to think that all inclusive food meant the same dishes served every day, and that it would maybe get a little boring. This is absolutely NOT the case at The Royal Son Bou Family Club – every day / evening saw many different dishes alongside familiar favourites.

We could share so many photos with you showing you more of the restaurants and food, but we hope you get the idea. It was faultless. The staff, the facilities for children – there is even a free play area crèche next to Los Olivos where Mummy could leave me to play in the safe hands of the lovely staff there, whilst she enjoyed her dinner in peace!

All inclusive at The Royal Son Bou Family Club means just that. We couldn’t believe what was included, it kept us all happy all day and we highly recommend it.

If you are starting to think about your family holiday next year, you could stay nowhere better than this hotel.
