Mummy talks about being safe online…..
‘There are so many interesting websites on the internet, hundreds of great ways to explore, to learn and to discover new things. Unfortunately there are also dangers, and sometimes all is not as it may first seem.
Fortunately there are several organisations to help you and your family keep safe online.
The NSPCC have a brilliant section all about keeping your children safe on-line, with lots of tips and advice. They also run different campaigns to highlight and promote internet safety.
Get Safe Online is a brilliant website offering all sorts of advice and help to stay safe in all aspects of online interaction including protecting yourself and your computer and devices, buying online, and social media.
Next week 19-24 October is Get Safe Online Week which, say Get Safe Online ‘is the most keenly anticipated event in our calendar, with our Partners and Supporters, police forces, law enforcement agencies, many other organisations and the media getting behind us to help protect the public and small businesses to stay safe on-line.’
If you like to play any games online, make sure the website is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission
You can also set your broadband settings at home to filter out unsuitable websites, and there are more and more apps and software available to help you control what can be accessed online, and limit the amount of time spent on-line.
What do you do to be safe online?’

It is so important to keep safe when online as there are so many dangers from cyber bullying to sharing personal information that could harm a persons wellbeing. We must learn to be safe when using social media.

So important to be safe online there’s some very dodgy people out there. I’m one for NOT clicking on links in emails, even if they look ok – and especially if there’s a short url, I had some PR in stitches because I wouldn’t. But I wouldn’t and that’s that. 🙂

I think the internet is a love/hate thing. I love that I can connect with people and work online, but I hate that unsavouries can also access my content too.

I think the internet is great, it has the power to do so much, but unfortunately it has the power to cause a lot of harm too. It’s so important that we take simple steps to make sure our kids and ourselves are safe online.
