The London Eye

You probably know that we recently visited London – my first visit – and one of the amazing things we did was to go on The London Eye.

Mummy and the others have been on it before – but I never have.

Luke is a bit scared of heights – he was a little nervous, especially when we were queueing up, but, he loved it!

Although we were REALLY high in the sky, the pod is very big, and the wheel moves so slowly, that it feels really safe and secure.

We started our trip In Kensington – we stayed in The Royal Garden Hotel.

We took The Tube to Westminster. It was SO busy! Big Ben was right there, and we crossed Westminster Bridge (where you can get some brilliant photos of The London Eye).

Mummy needed the loo, and they are quite hard to find in London! We tried the  tube station – they charge, (Mummy had no change), McDonalds – HUGE queue, and eventually found some in the ticket office of The London Eye that were free and pretty undiscovered and quiet! There is also a disabled loo and baby changing upstairs. (The loos are downstairs).

Mummy collected our tickets, then we joined the main queue for The London Eye itself. It is a looooong queue – but, it does move quickly. I really wanted an ice-cream!

TIP – buy a drink or ice cream from the stand on the main structure where you queue – you just get it, and pay as you walk past – no extra queue.

TIP – do have your photo taken against the green background before you get on, and hang onto the receipt ticket – it will be a great back up photo if you miss the ‘real’ one in the pod. I decided to pick my nose at the PRECISE moment the camera took our photo in the pod. I haven’t done it before, or since…….

The flight in the pod is AMAZING. I LOVED it! Even Luke loved it. You just get to see SO much. It lasts for roughly 30 minutes.

TIP – make sure you collect your 360 Map with your ticket – we had to ask for ours. It shows you all the landmarks as the wheel moves around.

It is such a great experience – there is nothing else quite like it.

TIP – Buy your tickets online for the best prices. Adults are approx £20 and we paid £13.95 for a child’s ticket. I was free as I am under 4! There are also family tickets available.

We also watched the 4D film, which is part of the experience too. We had to wear these special glasses. It was SO good – there were bubbles, and snowflakes, and we were like birds flying over London. You must see it, if you visit The London Eye.

We cannot wait to visit London again, and would definitely go on The London Eye again too.

WooHoo Points

One of the best attractions in London – you get a  view that you just won’t get anywhere else.

You can all travel in the same pod together – there is plenty of room for everyone to get a good view.

Great for all ages, and good wheelchair / pushchair access to.

Waaaah Points

Two photo points actually on the flight itself would be good – incase you miss one!

  1. What a fab trip! This makes me quite homesick for the UK.
I agree the views are great from the Eye, I was once lucky enough to go on it when it was snowing a little bit, the view over London as the flakes were falling was quite magical.

  13. Ah there are so many things here that my eldest daughter would love to do….4D movies, The London Eye and in fact just visiting London. We live in Northern Ireland though so it takes a bit more planning and money than if we lived in England. I’m sure we will fit it in some time soon though. Thanks for hosting #MyFavouritePost

  17. What a cool place to spend the day! oh the cues, that reminded me of going up to the Cristo de Corcobado in Rio de Janeiro. Such a long cue!!! I like how you blog in the eyes of your toddler. so cute!

  18. Sounds like you had a great trip! I went on the London Eye a few years ago and really enjoyed the ride and the views. We went in the early evening so it was still light when we got on and it got dark while we were up there so we had a great view of the sunset and lights and building illuminations coming on. I would do it again too, if I had the chance! Thanks for hosting #MyFavouritePost
