Mummy says….When it comes to enjoying Christmas, there are no better people to do it with than our family and friends. We love spending time with family and enjoying ourselves, especially in the holidays, Christmas is the perfect time to spend with with family….

Christmas is a Time for Family
Everyone loves Christmas, it’s such a merry time and it gives everyone the chance to relax and wind down from what may have been a long, difficult year. Here are some ideas for you:

Festive Games
Games are a great way to include the whole family and they really can bring out the best (and worst) in people. Doesn’t everyone love a good game of Monopoly? It can last all day and there always seems to be one person that wins every time. How is that?
The topic almost always goes back to the year before, when everyone argued over a five-hour game
that no one won because someone was cheating!
Still, spending time with family playing games is a must. Card games and charades are good fun too.

Presents, Presents, Presents!
In the holidays it’s easy to forget the strains of work and get lost in the festivities – that’s the idea!
Watching them open presents on Christmas morning, realising that a lot of the toys you bought don’t come with batteries (but hopefully you have plenty to spare!) The children needing to open every toy at the same time, and the youngest playing more with the boxes than the toys themselves!
Of course, it isn’t just the little ones that get to open up presents at Christmas, after all, it is a time to give gifts to everyone that we love. So whether you are hoping mum loves that set of LSA wine glasses, or that Grandad is over the moon with his new book, remember that it is the thought that counts – and they will absolutely love their gifts. Homemade gifts are a lovely idea too and perfect for the person who has everything.

Reasons to be Thankful
You may feel a little deflated at the end of Christmas day, after eating what seems like
your own body weight in turkey as well as all the chocolate that’s passed around. This is what Christmas with the family is all about, eating too much, having fun and relaxing.
You’ll look back on these times and be thankful that you were there, and that you got woken up at 4am to go downstairs and open presents!

Looking Ahead
Many of us see the festive period as the perfect time to share exciting news, such as an engagement or the patter of little feet! You may be getting a new pet in the coming year. Once the festivities are over you’ll probably start thinking of next Christmas as a new family. New Year brings new beginnings although next Christmas will come sooner than you think – blink and you might just miss the entire year.

Whatever the next year may throw at you, remember that family time is important. Make sure that your New Year’s resolution is to spend as much time with them as you can.

How will you be spending this Christmas?

  4. I whole heartedly agree, I love family time at Christmas. We always go to donate food and toys at the local animal shelter and then go for pizza as a family on Christmas Eve then spend the day getting fat on the big day. I can’t wait!!
