Can you relate to any of these five stages of NOT getting what you want for Christmas from? Personally I can see it applying to my children, my ex husband and my dad! Of course this is very tongue in cheek, but it is still funny to read! What I really want for Christmas is health and happiness for my family, and for us all to be together at Christmas.
Christmas Eve sees my tradition which I started seven years ago, of my sister, brother in law and nephew coming round for the evening and we have a Chinese takeaway. I love it because Christmas Eve is usually a mad day of dashing around, and I don’t have to worry about cooking an evening meal, but look forward to seeing them. We have the Christmas music channels on, and at the end of the evening we do another tradition which re-started again when Pickle was born, going outside to sprinkle and sparkly glitter on the lawn so Rudolph can see where to land 🙂
Christmas Day is another busy day, with family coming over for most of the day. We have Christmas Dinner together, and in the evening it is just us again, which is lovely , we watch the Christmas EastEnders Special, any other good TV, and have time to have a good look at our gifts. On Boxing Day, if the weather isn’t too bad, we head into Tenby for their Boxing Day Swim. We don’t go in the sea ourselves, but hundreds of people from all over the world take part, the town is jam packed and it is a really lovely atmosphere. This year is the 45th one! Afterwards we head home to have another roast dinner, yum!
Whatever you are doing this Christmas, have a great one keep well, safe and happy 🙂
Merry Christmas!

I’ve seen those Boxing Day swims. Those people are nuts! This would be the year to do it though as it’s so mild this month.

I like the chinese take out idea! I just wish my husband liked it. Sometimes the mashed potatoes ham and pastries can just be a little bit much this time of year.

i have not had to deal with this personally. i never asked for anything that wouldn’t have been affordable and my birthday is two days before Christmas so I knew whatever i asked for that i didn’t get for my birthday i would get two days later on Christmas. I think it is also good to potentially expect not to get what you asked for so if you do get it there’s the feeling of i didn’t expect this which is awesome

This made me giggle. I was never big into getting Christmas presents. My husband really doesn’t seem confidence in picking out gifts for me, either, so he hasn’t gotten me really anything in years. But I don’t mind. Nothing is better than seeing my son’s face light up when he sees and opens his presents!
