In September we enjoyed a fantastic week at The Royal Son Bou Family Club in Son Bou, Menorca. If you follow us on Twitter or Instagram you will have seen our many photos and tweets whilst we were there.
This is Mummy’s fourth visit to Menorca, and the third time she has stayed in Son Bou. It is my second visit – and my first stay in Son Bou. Mummy, Lea and Luke fell in love with Menorca years ago, and I have too. It is the most beautiful island, with everything we want and need as a family. Mummy has enjoyed every holiday here – as have we – but this last holiday has been simply incredible. And it is all down to where we stayed, The Royal Son Bou Family Club.
The Royal Son Bou Family Club invited us to stay for a week, all inclusive to see what we thought of their hotel. It took Mummy about 0.0000001 seconds to accept!
It is tricky to know where to start with sharing our holiday with you, there is so much we want to show you. We have decided to spread our review over a few posts, so we are not rushing or trying to cram too much into one post.
This post, our first, is all about our apartment. We had a spacious two bedroom, two bathroom one. It was Block D-8-12 on the ground floor. The 252 apartments are spread across the complex, over two or three storey traditional Menorca type buildings. Each has a balcony or contained terrace, and some overlook the main pool. Palm trees and local colourful plants and flowers are all over the complex too so literally feels like you are wandering around a small village. So pretty, with terracotta tiled walkways and glimpse of the sea between the buildings.
All apartments are within a couple of minutes walk of the main reception / and Los Olivos restaurant, the pools and La Basilica restaurant.
Our apartment was decorated in a lovely blue wash on the walls, with white tiled floors, white and blue living area and warm peachy coloured bedrooms. It felt very Mediterranean but homely too. The door opened into the living room, and there were large patio doors leading out to the balcony.
The facilities in our apartment were the best we have ever had. Two flat screen TV’s with Sky TV, air conditioning and heating which we had full control over so we always felt comfortable. A kitchen area with a fridge, hob, sink and cupbaords. All pots and pans and everything else were there too. Not that Mummy did any cooking. Well, she was on holiday too!
The main bedroom had an ensuite bathroom with a large bath, shower, loo and large sink / vanity unit. There was also a shower room with loo and sink and full shower off the hallway. So Mummy could still get ready whilst Lea put her make up on!
There was essentials which we have never found abroad before such as a hairdryer, magnifying mirror, washing up liquid and sponge, dental packs with toothbrush and mini tooth paste, body lotion, shower cap and bottles of hand wash and hair and body wash.
The lovely cleaners came in every day to make our beds, empty the bins and clean the bathrooms, as well as changing any towels that needed changing and changing the bed sheets mid -week too.
They even provided a pool towel for each of us, which we could swop for a clean one on the Friday and Tuesday.
Honestly, there is nothing they haven’t thought of. For babies there is a highchair and travel cot.
We cannot praise the apartment enough – we loved it.

Wow! that is an amazing apartment and your photographs just make me want to go there right now! A daily cleaner is such a nice touch too, coming back “home” is lovely when it has that clean fresh look and smell.

I love Menorca. It’s not as busy as the other islands and the scenery is gorgeous. I did a summer season there as a holiday rep and there was this gorgeous cove by my apartment that I used to visit. The water was a shade of blue I can’t even describe!

We have been looking at holidays for next year and we have been thinking about Menorca , I have never visited before but it sounds perfect for a holiday with little ones. The apartment looks really spacious , we have been struggling to fine someone big enough as we have three children and most only cater for families of four not five xx
