Mummy says…. There are so many reasons why we love to travel, it is hard to know where to start. Traveling is fantastic. We get the chance to explore new places, enjoy time together and treat ourselves to some new clothes. Shopping for holiday clothes is the perfect time to update our wardrobes, and buy something a bit different. I have been having a little look at holiday fashion trends to share with you.

Holiday Fashion Trends

Top Trends

Most retailers know that the summer season is important, so release most of their clothes at this time of the year. Every year brings an interesting new fashion trend. As you can see here, this year is all about skirts.

There are all kinds available in the shops right now. Everything from casual denim and chino skirts, which are perfect for a holiday, to beautiful flowing maxi skirts that are ideal for a meal out.

The nice thing about skirts is that they are an extremely versatile item of clothing. A nice flowing skirt is super comfortable to travel in, but it can just as easily be taken to the beach and slipped on over your costume.  Skirts are a holiday essential. They take up such little space in your suitcase, can be dressed up or down, and can be worn with many different tops.

Whether I am going to wear skirts, jeans or shorts I love looking for new tops for my holiday. Luckily, there is so much choice out there.

This year, there are more blouses available including quite a few long sleeved ones. The majority of them are made from super lightweight fabrics, which are great for wearing on a holiday in the sunshine.

The other main trend is texture. Most retailers have racks of pretty crocheted or embroidered tops in their collections. These beautiful tops look great whether I wear them while sightseeing or for a night out.

Cuts vary, cut the majority of the tops I have seen in the shops this year are quite long, finishing mid thigh, making them very flattering. (Covering my Mum tum.)

Footwear trends

I usually spend quite a bit of time walking when I am on holiday. Comfortable footwear for me is essential. Fortunately, for 2017, heel heights are low, so it is really easy to find a nice pair of comfortable sandals. Flatties are always a hit for the evening, along with mules which go with any outfit. I have found a great selection of sandals and shoes on on this website

What do you think of the holiday fashion trends? Are you going on holiday this summer?

  6. I love the loose fitting flaired patterned trousers and jumpsuits, I live in my sandals and flip flops in the summer unless its raining xxx

  7. My travel fashion essential is my shorts. I love that you can dress them up or down, similarly to skirts, and they’re so comfortable I can wear them either over a bikini in the day or teamed with a smart top in the evenings.
I’m going to the Dominican Republic to get married in February, and I think I started holiday clothes shopping for this in November last year :-) Being comfortable yet fashionable when away in the heat is a must for me.
After reading this, I’m now thinking I couldn’t go wrong investing in a few skirts, too!
