You probably know by now that we live in a beautiful part of the world – Pembrokeshire in South West Wales. We love living here, and are very aware how lucky we are. Many tens of thousands of people flock to our county every year for their holiday, to explore our coastline and beaches, to find our hidden treasures such as islands full of birds and wildlife, to enjoy our peace and quaint villages and harbours.
There are many places to choose from to stay, from 5* hotels to caravans, in fact, it can seem a little overwhelming to find the perfect place to stay. Well, let us help you! One of the best places you could choose is Bluestone Wales.
Bluestone Wales is for everyone, perfect for couples, families, large family gatherings with grand parents, aunties, uncles – everyone!
We stayed there last year for the first time, and fell in love with the place. We need no convincing to visit Pembrokeshire – we see its beauty every day. Now, having explored Bluestone Wales, we need no convincing of what a great place it is either.
We have stayed in the Grassholm and The Caldey Connect lodges, which are just the most fantastic accommodation, sleeping up to 8 in each. When we have wandered around the village, we have wondered what the little cottages were like – were they as luxurious as the lodges?
Well, biggest sis MeeMee, who has her very own rather gorgeous blog The Perks of Being Amy, was invited to stay at Bluestone Wales in December, to stay in a cottage with her boyfriend, and we visited to spend the day with them.
You can read her full review over on her blog, we just wanted to share with you our highlights.
MeeMee and L stayed in Badger Cottage, and it was every bit as lovely as the lodges we have stayed in. Warm and cosy, with an open plan downstairs which has a kitchen and living room, and stairs up to a cosy large bedroom with HUGE en-suite bathroom. We were impressed again with touches like the quality of the carpets, wall heaters that can be fully controlled, and a downstairs loo. The en-suite bathroom had twin sinks, and a large wet-room type separate shower – such luxury!
We had a great day, visiting the Adventure Centre and Wild Wood Cafe which has great value lunches and drinks. There are activities for all ages, from tots to teens. Because it was nearly Christmas, everywhere was decorated so festively, it was beautiful.
If you are looking for somewhere to visit next Christmas, then The Kingdom of the Elves looks amazing – we didn’t go inside, but were still entertained by this brilliant Elf, who was hilarious – just like Mr Poppy off Nativity!
Now, you might think that Bluestone Wales is just for families, but there is SO much for everyone. As MeeMee and L found, it is perfect for a getaway as a couple, to spend time together in a gorgeous cottage, to treat yourself to a meal at the new Oak Tree Restaurant or Knights Tafarn. You can go swimming at The Blue Lagoon, or enjoy a treatment at The Well Spa. It is the perfect base for getting out and exploring Pembrokeshire, or just walking through the woodlands at Bluestone. If you are up to it you could try the new Sky Wires at Steep Ravine – from 60ft – 250ft long!
Fancy a get together with ALL your family? Bluestone Wales has accommodation options that sleep up to 14 in one lodge. Have a look at the gorgeous Pembroke Lodge which sleeps up to 12, with six twin bedrooms – four are en-suite, and two further bathrooms.
If you are a busy business person who just can’t help bring work with you – or maybe you have to be connected to your office, The St David’s Lodge is perfect for you – a detached lodge sleeping up to 8 with lots of room, and an integral study/office room. You can hook up to hi speed WiFi too!
So whatever your family size or situation, I think you’ll agree that Bluestone IS for everyone!

Bluestone keeps on popping up time and time again! Friends have recommended it to me and I keep on reading rave reviews on travel blogs too:) The Blue Lagoon and Well Spa sound amazing and the Badger Cottage looks really modern and spotlessly clean. We are big fans of Center Parcs and have been many times but perhaps it is time we had a change! Thanks for sharing

I would have loved to visit Bluestone just with my other half, as well as with the kids, which we did last year. It really is a fantastic place. My Mum and her partner joined us for one night, and there was plenty of room for all six of us in our cabin. I’d go back there in a flash.

I missed out on the first time the family went to Bluestone as I had to work but last year I got to go with them and it was amazing, there is plenty to do on site but if you want to adventure out (we did on one day.) We found Foley Farm which was amazing!

I looked at Bluestone (as an alternative to Center Parcs – never been there either!) but I thought it was quite pricey? Then I’ve seen comments above which say it’s reasonable so maybe I am just really tight, ha! I like the look of it though so perhaps one day!

Oooh I love that it is able to accommodate so many, at Christmas that would be perfect to have the whole family together at the same time. I love how the accommodation looks like a home rather than a hotel, it must have been so comforting and relaxed 🙂 x
