New Asian Adventure at Folly Farm

Pickle says… If you follow us on social media you will have seen our posts and IG stories about our summer visits to Folly Farm in Pembrokeshire. We love the new Asian Adventure – here is what it’s all about…..

New Asian Adventure at Folly Farm

The Asian Adventure is a whole zone themed around the Orient which opened in July, in time for the school holidays. You make your way along the raised walkway to see – if you’re lucky -the adorable Lotus and Baika, a breeding pair of red pandas. Every time we have visited though they have been curled up fast asleep!

As well as the gorgeous red pandas there are a pack of endangered Asian wild dogs (called dholes)  who have a large enclosure, and Asian leopard cats Ping and Pong (who we haven’t actually seen yet). Spotting the dogs is quite tricky too as they sleep on top of the little hill in their enclosure!

There are also white-naped cranes, pelicans and mandarin ducks with a pretty pond, statues of buddhas and themed music playing. It is a lovely zone, a great addition to Folly Farm and we love the atmosphere. There is an area with picnic tables in the middle to enjoy the surroundings too.

You can see a little vlog over on our Facebook page:

Other news at Folly Farm is that twin valais blacknose lambs have been born – the breed is known as the worlds cutest sheep:

Some other fantastic news that happened over the summer was that Folly Farm has another Trip Advisor Award – a Certificate of Excellence! They have now held onto this award since 2011 which is pretty impressive.

The award recognises businesses that consistently achieve excellent (five star) ratings from travellers using the Trip Advisor review site. Well done Folly Farm – very well deserved!

The opening hours change slightly now as we enter September, here they are up until 3 November, when Folly Farm then only opens for weekends:

  • 03 September – 30 September, 10am – 5pm, every day
  • 01 October – 18 October, 10am – 4pm, every day
  • 19 October – 03 November, 10am – 5pm, every day

Looking ahead to the winter, the opening hours are:

  • 09 November – 22 December, 10am – 4pm, Saturdays and Sundays only
  • We’re closed completely from 23 December 2019 until 04 January 2020

Keep an eye out for Spooky Halloween and Santa’s Grotto too.

We have made the most of our annual passes this year, visiting almost every week! It’s also going to be great for late summer sunny afternoons after school to pop up for an hour or so. We were gifted our annual passes in exchange for promoting Folly Farm.
