Not strictly in Pembrokeshire but half way between St Clears and Carmarthen in South West Wales lies a pretty seaside village called Llansteffan, a place I am ashamed to say, I have never visited before. I spent a few hours there last weekend and had a wonderful time….

Where is Llansteffan?

What is there?

Llansteffan Castle stands tall over the village. Built in the 12th Century it’s open every day with free admission.  It is a short walk past Plas Llansteffan – a grade 2 listed building that was formerly Lord Kylsant’s former residence.

The coastal path has beautiful walks taking in stunning views of the Three Rivers estuary and Carmarthen Bay.

In addition to the beautiful beach, the village boasts several pubs, restaurants & cafes providing a range of delicious food and drink.

Catch the Carmarthen Bay Ferry over to Ferryside – tide permitting – please check the website for the latest details and sailing info.

Parking is free and there is a large car park right next to the beach. Be aware that access to Llansteffan is via some narrow lanes. There is a Fish & Chip shed serving food and drinks with outdoor seating in the main car park, along with public toilets. There is no indoor seating.

There is a small tea room by the car park serving hot and cold drinks, cakes and cream teas.

There are two pubs in the village centre (away from the beach), Inn in the Sticks is fairly expensive with mains at £15 – £24 each, and Castle Inn next door has a limited menu with mains around £10 each. Children’s meals are £8.

Llansteffan is a lovely place to visit – pick a sunny day and you can spend hours on the beac as well as visiting the castle. Take a picnic, or treat yourself to fish and chips or afternoon tea.

Have you ever been to Llansteffan?
