The weather has been very spring-like recently hasn’t it? It is the perfect time of year to start planning a little holiday, and cottage holiday spring breaks are a great choice for families…

Cottage Holiday Spring Breaks in South Devon

Mummy used to always go on self catering holidays when she was a little girl and has lots of great memories. She is always telling us about her family holidays and they sound like such fun.

There are so many reasons why cottage holiday spring breaks are a great idea – here are just a few:

  1. Hopefully you will get some early warm sunshine.
  2. You can avoid the crowds of the busy summer months.
  3. Prices are much better.
  4. You can enjoy quality time together in privacy and comfort.
  5. There are so many fantastic locations to choose in the UK, with no flight hassle or delays.

One such destination is South Devon. It is a beautiful part of the country to visit, we had a holiday there for the first time last December.

Why choose South Devon?

  1. There are many beautiful beaches and coves to explore.
  2. Visit Torre Abbey Museum in Torquay, near the beach.
  3. Visit the impressive Kents Cavern.
  4. Have a day out at Dinosaur World.
  5. Take a trip to the Coastal Zoo.
  6. Spend time at the Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve.
  7. Go for a family bike ride on the Exe Valley Cycle Trail.
  8. Shaldon Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
  9. Take a scenic walk on the South West Coastal path to Labrador Bay.
  10. Have a dip in the heated outdoor Teignmouth Lido swimming pool, and visit the nearby children’s park.

  1. I love Devon and Cornwall, I’ve got great memories of going there on family holidays when I was a kid!

Cottage holidays are great because they give you so much more space compared to camping or caravanning (although I enjoy those types of holidays too, just for different reasons!)

  2. We spent many holidays in south Devon when I was a child and I’d love to take my own as I have such happy memories. We always choose holiday cottages as they are so convenient with 5 of us.

  3. I love Devon and we are regulars as my Dad lives in Axminster….. highly recommend Pecorama if you are close by

  4. I love having a cottage or full area as you can make it more of a home away from home, especially if you’re on a budget and want to cook at home etc x

  5. I’ve never been to Devon before but it sounds like a fab place for a staycation

  6. Oh wow that view! We’ve only stayed in Devon once before, but we really enjoyed it so I’d happily go back. Mich x
