How to Choose a Cruise

Pickle says… I have never been on a cruise, but Mummy and the others have been on a few. I would really love to go on one some day, and Mummy is always looking at different deals. She has some top tips for how to choose a cruise….

How to Choose a Cruise

Adults Only

The biggest decision is whether you are going with adults only or taking the children. There are adult only ships which are perfect for a romantic getaway or a celebration with your friends. P&O and Fred Olsen cruise lines have some fab adults only cruises.

Family Friendly

I have been on some awesome family friendly ships and highly recommend Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Lines. The kids clubs, pools and activities are fantastic for all ages. Some ships have family cabins which sleep up to 6 – they are not widely advertised and you may have to ring to check. I know Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas had four!

Fly or Simply Sail

Many ships sail from Southampton which is great if you don’t like flying, or don’t want the hassle. Destinations are more limited, but they are a great option. There is no luggage weight restriction either! There are lots of cruises that sail from other countries – check whether the flights are included in the price.

Formal or Casual

Cruising is no longer for the exclusive, rich or elderly. Most popular cruise lines still have at least one formal night, where you can go all out in your finest evening gown and dinner suits, or you can kick back and dine in the other restaurants with no need to even take a suit. You can even try 6* Luxury Cruising on cruise lines such as Seabourn and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Cheers!

It is worth looking at drinks packages on board – you can save money by pre-booking a soft drink or alcohol package. Norwegian Cruise Lines have all inclusive ships with all (well, 99%) of drinks included, including cocktails!

Have a good look online to find a good cruise deal there are so many offers on cruises. Make sure you also check out these tips for first time cruisers if you haven’t done it before!

I hope this helps if you are looking to choose a cruise! Have you cruised before?
