Pickle says…We were very lucky to have been staying in Bath with Hiplets over half term. We have visited Bath a couple of times before and loved it. It is such a beautiful place. This time we stayed right in the centre…
We stayed in Monmouth House, a gorgeous Georgian house on Monmouth Street, a few minutes easy walk from the centre of Bath where the Abbey, Roman Baths and shops are.
It is in an absolutely brilliant position. We parked in Charlotte Street Long Stay car park, which costs £8.50 for 24 hours and is about a ten minute (or less) walk away. You can pull up opposite the house briefly to unload / load your car.
The house is modern, light and airy with real quality fittings and furnishings. The only darker room was the bedroom downstairs.
There were six of us staying, Mummy, teens aged 18 and 15, Nan and Grandad and me! I am 5. big sis and boyfriend Mimi and Lewis (2 adults) joined us too for part of our stay.
The house sleeps 11 but 6 of those beds are bunk beds.
The house layout is: Floor Two – One double bedroom, one bathroom with bath, shower and loo.
Floor one – One main bedroom with double and single bed. One bedroom with bunk beds.
Ground Floor – Large living / kitchen area. Front door opens straight into this space from the street.
Lower Ground Floor – Bedroom with two sets of bunk beds, bathroom with shower and loo.
We had a couple of issues with the house, we would recommend it for older children, as there are fairly steep curved staircases to each level. I did slip twice (No real biggie, I was ok, but they were steep for me).
We understand the house is rented to a lot of single adults, which it is perfect for. For a family, however, it would benefit from a comfy lounge area with sofas. The only seating was in the dining room area, which was a little uncomfortable after a while.
Renting Monmouth House would have cost us £250 per night for the entire property. This rises to £265 per night in the summer months, which is incredible value for money if you are a large group / family.

This looks like a fab location for a hen party. I love the decor. I’ve never been to Bath so it is on my bucket list for a weekend with Husband at some point.

Hi Amy,
Bath is the perfect place for a romantic breakaway, family treat or friends get together! There is something to please everyone. Please do bring your husband and come and stay at one of our delightful flats. 🙂

It looks like a lovely place to stay, Bath is such a beautiful place to visit. It’s always so much better when all of the linen & towels are provided! x

Hi Sophie,
Agreed – and we have the fluffiest towels and luxuriously comfy linens – come and try them for yourself!

It certainly seems like a very nice place to say although like you say maybe not entirely child friendly with that staircase! I would love to visit Bath and will bear in mind hiplets for accommodation.

Hi Kirsty,
We look forward to hosting you! 🙂

Wow what a fab location! Its a shame that there wasn’t any comfortable seating though! xxx

Hi Laura,
Monmouth House is so centrally located, many of our guests stay there for convenient access to events, restaurants, spa, shops – there is hardly time to staying “home” and indoors! However, should you wish to spend time socialising with friends and family, we have alternative accommodation options for this – please have a look at our other properties. 🙂

Oh I love the decor of the place! I love Bath also but yes maybe you are right about it not being so child friendly!
April 26, 2018 at 8:12 am
Hi Hannah,
Thank you – we are pleased to hear that you like the decor. If you are travelling with children, we do have other accommodation options – have a look! 🙂

Hi Stephanie,
Thank you! xx

That sounds like a good place to rent for larger parties as you’ve said. My sisters and I go away once a year and I may suggest Bath for our trip next year now I know we could get somewhere central for all of us.

Hi Cathy,
We would love to host you and Bath will not disappoint, it has recently been voted by TripAdvisor as the most romantic city in the UK! There is so much to enjoy, do come for a visit!

I used to live in Bath and I miss it so much. This looks like such great accommodation. Perfect for big parties. A shame about the stairs, but the house looks beautiful. x

Hi Chloe
I can imagine how much you must miss Bath – it is one of our favourite cities too! You should plan a trip sometime – we would love to host you!

What a lovely place to stay in such a great part of the country. Such a shame the stairs were so steep!
April 26, 2018 at 8:49 am
Hi Melissa,
Yes, we are so blessed to be based in Bath. Unfortunately a minor drawback of numerous older properties in the UK are the steep staircases… but we do have alternative accommodation options – have a look! 🙂

Hi Leona,
Thank you xx

We went to Bath last Autumn and stayed in the outskirts due to lack of free parking, this looks like a lovely place except for the steep stairs
April 26, 2018 at 8:51 am
Hi Anosa,
Yes, parking can be tricky in Bath! Most of our properties come with a parking permit included in your booking – have a look! 🙂
April 13, 2018 at 8:09 am
This house is beautiful. No parking would be an issue to us but I’d still love to visit.

Hi Beth,
We would love to host you! Have a look at some of our other properties around Bath too… 🙂
April 14, 2018 at 9:16 pm
It looks like such a beautiful property but the steep stairs would be a huge issue for me personally as my knees give out on normal stairs at the best of times, it does sound like a great place though for a group thing or a couple going away as it seems really nice and grand.
April 26, 2018 at 8:55 am
Hi Jordanne,
We have some gorgeous ground floor properties too – have a look! xx

I love a Georgian house, and what an appropriate property to stay in when visiting Bath! I love how they’ve fitted this one out, and it sounds like tremendous value.
April 26, 2018 at 8:59 am
Hi,
Thank you! We love our Georgian properties – especially those with the beautiful Bath stone! Come and enjoy them too! xx

I live in Bristol but love to visit Bath. It is such a beautiful and relaxing place and is worlds away from the hussle and bustle of city centre life

Living in Bristol I have visited Bath on many occasions. But I must tire that I never tire of the city or what it has on offer. It is such a contrast from Bristol
