Celebrating Roald Dahl’s 100th Birthday

Mummy grew up reading some awesome stories, stories that she has never forgotten. Stories written by a truly amazing man, stories that she passed down to my big brother and sisters, stories that I am now finding out about. We are thrilled to be celebrating Roald Dahl’s 100th Birthday today with a copy of ‘The Gloriumptious Worlds of Roald Dahl’ book.

Celebrating Roald Dahl's 100th Birthday

It is an absolutely gorgeous 59 page book, authorised by The Roald Dahl Estate, featuring illustrations by Quentin Blake including back stories, and fact and fun details behind Roald Dahl classics.

‘Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it’ – Roald Dahl 1916-1990

This is so very true, and you will find magic on every single page of this book. What is your favourite Roald Dahl story? Mine – even at just three, is Matilda. She is an amazing little girl, and I love the story of her life. I have watched the film version for ages now, it is one of my favourite films, and Mummy is reading the book to me.

Big brother and sister adore Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, and biggest sister, who is now twenty, was a little bit scared of The BFG when she was little.

Celebrating Roald Dahl's 100th Birthday

Mummy’s favourite story as a little girl was Danny the Champion of the World – in her mind she took herself to the little caravan where Danny lived with his daddy – and has never forgotten it.

‘The Gloriumptious Worlds of Roald Dahl book is perfect for all Roald Dahl fans, for children and adults alike, with unforgettable illustrations by Sir Quentin Blake scattered throughout, giving the scrapbook a charming, familiar quality. The book is packed with unknown facts, anecdotes and background stories for some of Dahl’s most famous books such as James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryDanny the Champion of the World wait to be discovered by keen readers.’

Lovingly created by children’s author and long-term Roald Dahl enthusiast Stella Caldwell, this is a book with a difference, incorporating four large booklets, which include ‘A Spotters Guide to Giants’, ‘The Witchophiles Manual – How to Spot a Witch’, a personal letter inside an envelope, as well as two large gatefold flaps, The Gloriumptious Worlds of Roald Dahl  from Carlton Books is the perfect keepsake for new and old Dahl fans.

What is very exciting is that in Celebrating Roald Dahl’s 100th Birthday we have a copy of this fantastic book worth £16.99 to give away to one lucky reader.

The question is ‘What is your favourite Roald Dahl story?’

Good Luck!

The competition ends at midnight on 13 October 2016.

  9. Oh wow, this book sounds lovely. Road Dahl’s books were such an important part of so many childhoods. My favourites were always “Danny the Champion of the world”, “Fantastic Mr Fox” and “Matilda”. However, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” always terrified me. I still can’t watch the movies.
