Five Things to Pack for a Beach Holiday

All year you have been dreaming of your holiday on the beach and when the time finally comes to get ready to go it’s usually a last minute rush to get things packed and ready. The problem is this always leads to forgetting some of the most important things you’ll really need for the beach.

Five Things to pack for a Beach Holiday

Hopefully your beach holiday means sunshine and plenty of it, days spent lounging in your bathing suit, sipping cool drinks and enjoying the sound of the ocean lapping the shore. To make life easier, here are five things to pack for a beach holiday that you just can’t forget to bring!

1. Sunscreen

You are probably aware of quickly you can get a sunburn when lounging in or near the water. Don’t forget that many of those UV rays are radiated off the water literally doubling the danger. Not only are you getting the direct rays of the sun but you are getting the rays that bounce off the glass-like surface of the water causing more potential to burn. Pack a sunscreen with an SPF rating of at least 30, preferably higher.

2. Beach Wear

Of course you know you need at least one swim suit but there are other pieces of clothing that you should pack as well. Don’t forget a beach wrap around and some sandals that slide on and off easily. The sand can get super hot and you can easily burn your feet. Bring a good pair of sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat. Sunscreen is good but you want to protect the delicate skin on your face and your eyes from harmful rays too.

3. Shaving Kit and / or Epilator

When spending a couple weeks or more at the beach the hair on your legs and under your arms can grow quite quickly. Why not pack a good quality shaving kit or better yet, bring your epilator along! You certainly don’t want to be seen in your best swim suit that cost an arm and a leg but with stubble all over your legs! Shaving your legs every few days might be ok for landlubbers but for beach goers, it just won’t do!

4. Beach Towels

There is nothing worse than coming out of the water, rubbing yourself with sunscreen only to lie down on the beach and get coated with sand. Before applying your sunscreen, dry yourself thoroughly with your towel and then spread it over your beach chair. Shake it off first of course! Next apply your sunscreen and you are ready to tan.

5. Antihistamine

You might be thinking this is a funny thing to pack for a holiday on the beach but there are little critters that live in the water and just one sting can send you itching like crazy. There are also bound to be an assortment of flying insects that you may have a reaction to if stung. Bring an antihistamine and keepit in your beach bag just in case.

While you will need things to wear for evenings at local clubs and when dining out, the bulk of your time will most likely be spent on the beach.

Are you going on a beach holiday this year? If so, have fun, enjoy the sun and be safe!

  4. Don’t forget the talcum powder!!! It is the most genius way of getting sand off you! If you have sticky wet sand on children, or dry sand that is tough to get off. Just put some talcum powder on your hand and rub the area. It falls off in seconds! xxx

  5. I would never have thought of Antihistamine for the beach to be honest but it really does make sense!! Great list.
