Dreaming of Dubai

I am quite a well travelled little boy, but I have only just started my travels really. I have so many places I would love to visit, for many different reasons. One place at the top of my list is Dubai. It looks just incredible, my big sis Lea has always wanted to visit, and I would love to make her dream come true. She leaves school this month, after all her GCSE exams. She has had quite a difficult, stressful time of it and this would be a perfect way to cheer her up, and celebrate the end of her school years.

dreaming of dubai

Mummy looks after us on her own, and the chances of her being able to take us to Dubai herself are slim. Slimmer than slim. Ok, non existent. I thought I would share with you my Top Four Activities to do in Dubai – one for each of us. You can find full information about each activity here.

  1. Aquaventure Water Park. Lea is a real water baby and has always loved pools, slides, water jets since she was very young. She would absolutely LOVE this water park, it looks awesome. There are plenty of activities there for the rest of us too. There is the Middle East’s longest zip line circuit, the Leap of Faith, a 27.5-metre plunge that carries you through a clear tube surrounded by sharks and rays, Splashers’ Children’s Play Area — a maze of tunnels, tubes, slides and climbing frames, and for Mummy, the Lazy River that stretches for more than a mile through the park.
  2. Bounce with 100 trampolines – Luke (big bro) is a Parkour (free running) fanatic and trampolining is a great activity for him to practice his skills – core strength, balance and more. He doesn’t get to go to a trampoline park here – this would be fantastic for him. Lea and I would quite like a go too!
  3. Visit a turtle rehabilitation centre – and get to feed the turtles. Mummy would love to do this – turtles are such amazing creatures, and we would all love to see them. Best of all, it is FREE to do this! Feeding is every Wednesday at 11am. How cool is that?
  4. Visit Dolphin Bay. Mummy was very lucky years ago, when MeeMee (biggest sis who unfortunately wouldn’t be able to join us on this dream holiday) was two, to swim with dolphins and she has never forgot it. As an animal lover, I would absolutely love to see and touch these incredible animals in the water. There are six beautiful dophins at Dolphin Bay.

This is just a tiny selection of what is available in Dubai. I haven’t even talked about the food, the shopping, the buildings…..I really think it is a most unique place, there is no where else quite like it. There is so much for us all to do, I fear if we aren’t lucky enough to win this competition we may never get there. Visit Dubai has loads more information for you.

  1. I have been to Dubai, I took my daughter there for a 21st birthday treat as she didn’t want a big party so we decided to have a girly long weekend just the two of us. It was the most fantastic place, everything is so clean and beautiful, the local people are so welcoming and friendly and the service is second to none, there is so much to do there and we felt perfectly safe the whole time we were there. Dubai is an amazing place to visit if you get the chance.

  4. I haven’t been to Dubai yet- I was meant to a few years a go with a friend of mine, but our hotel actually needed up about 2 hours outside of Dubai. A bit of a mistake! My sister however lives there and teaches so I’ll definitely be going over to visit at some point, I’m always so jealous of her lifestyle!

  9. Good luck with the competition, I have only been as far as the airport during my transit to either Africa or Asia and I have always been that kid (well adult) stares out the window and wonder what it must be like as everything I know about Dubai is via books and posts. I want to visit one day and enjoy the finer things Dubai has to offer

  12. I can see that lots of families dream of Dubai as a holiday destination with such a great mix of things to do. My boy would love to practice Parkour and 100 trampolines would be his place. Meeting turtles and dolphins would be great fun and making memories to share would be the best for our little family. Good luck with your family dreams.

  13. Wow, so many things to do – love to surprise my husband and stepsons with this trip – the 100 trampolines sounds a blast, and swimming with dolphins phenomonal – the boys would have to pinch themselves every day as so completely different from where we live, Finland. Just telling them about the place, we’d get sceptical looks about it all!

  14. I have never been to Dubai, but it’s high on my list of places to go. It just screams luxury and surprisingly it has a lot for kids to do.

  16. I was going to write about how we’d love to visit the trampoline park in Dubai too, but I have this sneaky suspicion that my 4 year old would want to bounce on EVERY single one – and as you’ve mentioned there are 100 of them, I think that would basically be our entire trip taken up. Haha. I didn’t know about the turtle rehabilitation centre though. That sounds like a lovely way to spend a morning. The fact it is free is just the icing on the cake isn’t it. Wonderful stuff 🙂

  17. My husband’s brother lives in Dubai, and it would be so great to go and visit him as he doesn’t come home too often. It looks like such an impressive place!

  18. Good luck in the competition, sounds like you all deserve a break

  24. We were lucky enough to go to Dubai a couple of years ago, but it really is somewhere you want to go back to. There is so much to do, it is hard to choose what to fit in. I would love to go back and visit the rolling sand dunes and have a go at sand boarding. The turtle rehabilitation sanctuary looks like a great place to visit as well. How amazing would it be to feed a turtle!?!

  25. Good luck hun!
Fingers crossed you get lucky and win your trip of a lifetime!

I’d love to visit Dubai. We have onlt done staycations for the last 4 years due to the kids (we have 3 boys) and after a bad experience flying with our middle one, we haven’t braved it since! (Yes, it was that bad!).

Good luck with the competition and if you win and I get to come, I’ll buy you at least 1 G&T 😉
    xx

  26. I would love to go to Dubai. It just looks so grand and amazing! As long as they have air conditioning in the hotel!

  27. I have never been to Dubai, funding and family haven’t allowed for it….YET! Now my children have grown, and hopefully finances will start to get a little easier, it is high on the top of my list of places to visit.
I am intrigued by the blend of new and old cultures, and the pictures and blogs I have read about it make me dream of it even more.
I WILL get there one day!

  28. We haven’t been to Dubai either but would love to go and explore. I think swimming with the dolphins would be a memory to treasure. The more I read about the desert safari’s the more intrigued I am and think we would have to try that too. We love turtles too! You say the rehabilitation centre is free to visit. The kids would love to visit there too. I would have to have one day on the beach, being near the sea is my happy place. My husband isn’t that fond of sand though, so I might send him and the kids to KidZania for the day. Sounds like a good compromise doesn’t’ it! Good luck with your entry little man! I’ve got my fingers crossed for all of us 🙂 xxx

  35. Dubai looks simply amazing. So much to do, so many different worlds all wrapped up in one gorgeous place. Looking at what Dubai has to offer, I’ve been really impressed by the range of family-friendly options – theme parks, indoor fun sessions, skate parks – as well as sports, stunning beaches, and entertainment.

What I hadn’t realised was how much variety there is in Dubai in terms of food and culture. Our son is a huge foodie, despite being only 10, and would love visiting some of the restaurants and tasting the new flavours.

As a family we would love to be able to visit Dubai, and experience just a taste of what is on offer. Our elder son loves nature, so would enjoy the different wildlife on show. And dad… well, quad-biking in the sand dunes would suit him perfectly. As for mum… of course Dubai is a shopper’s paradise! And I’m sure we would all enjoy a tour of historic Dubai, as well as the many museums. There truly is something for everyone.

The hardest part will be choosing what to do. It really does seem that Dubai has it all, a wealth of opportunities to explore and experience.

Dubai really is the city of possibilities and I want to ‘Discover All That’s Possible In Dubai’.

  36. Dubai has been at the top of my bucket list for many years now and reading you post has made me want to visit so much more!

Souks, skyscrapers, sand and sea, Dubai really has something for all the family and the possibility of visiting this incredible city is making me super excited.

I’d love the opportunity to win our perfect family holiday in Dubai; a holiday for the four of us, that combines unlimited opportunities for fun and adventure. We’d be able to
escape the ‘day to day’, making memories and recharging our batteries. And it would give us the chance to simply spend our days together as a family, enjoying each other’s company before Jack starts school in September.

There are so many amazing adventures we’d like to experience, but our top 3 would have to be:

1// A day of aquatic fun at Atlantis’ Aquaventure Waterpark to cool off in the Dubai heat. Aquaventure caters for all the family with its record-breaking rides and slides for thrill seekers and the Splashers’ Children’s Play Area, which is a haven for little ones with water cannons, slides and climbing frames.

2 // A once-in-a-lifetime experience at Dolphin Bay. As there’s no age limit, we could enjoy this amazing experience as a family and I can only imagine the joy on the children’s faces when they get up close to these amazing creatures!

3 // Experience the heady heights of Burj Khalifa. We couldn’t visit Dubai without venturing up the tallest building in the World, and although I’m afraid of heights, I’d still feel compelled to visit the observation deck on the 144th floor. As long as I don’t stand too close to the edge, nor look vertically down, I think I’d actually enjoy it.

I’m now off to spend the day daydreaming about Dubai and all it has to offer…

Best of luck with your entry!

  37. I think this is all so very true
Dubai would be perfect – it is for me too
Good luck with your entry and if you win
Make room in your case, and please fit me in!

  38. i would love to travel and dubai looks amazing , i have heard its rather expensive but isnt holidays for spending x

  39. Wow the Dubai fountain looks absolutely amazing! I would love to go to Dubai just to see that yet there is so much more all in one place – it is almost too hard to imagine so I will have to go there to find out for myself The beautiful beach beckons me, incredible concerts and entertainment, retail heaven and then relax and unwind by trying out traditional spa therapies at the hammam! The food in Dubai looks divine and I bet it is delicious. My husband would love the adventure sports, golf courses and falconry. There is something here for everyone. Dubai is my dream destination.

  40. I would love to take my grandsons on a Dream Trip to Dubai – a clean, safe, family-friendly holiday destination, with plenty of activities to choose from for any age range. As well as relaxing on the beautiful golden sand of JBR Beach with its warm, calm and shallow waters we would all enjoy a dune-bashing safari followed by a camel ride and BBQ dinner in a Bedouin desert camp.

We would visit the Dubai Museum in the Al Fahidi Fort to learn about life from a bygone era as a contrast to the amazing architecture of the modern city which we could view from the front or rear carriages of the driverless Dubai Metro system and then take it all in from the At The Top observation deck of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

The free and impressive Dubai Fountain water, light and music show can be watched from one of many waterfront cafes just outside the Dubai Mall. The malls in Dubai have many family attractions to choose from. The boys could try ice-skating, helped by the ‘penguin pals’, visit the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo and also see the giant 155 million year old dinosaur skeleton (DubaiDino), all in the Dubai Mall.

The boys love theme parks and this summer Dubai will open the world’s largest indoor theme park – IMG Worlds of Adventure with four themed zones inside including Marvel, Cartoon Network, Lost Valley – Dinosaur Adventure and IMG Boulevard. This will be completely enclosed and temperature-controlled with 1.5 million square feet of entertainment space!

Our only problem will be going home with so much more left for us to see and do in beautiful Dubai

  41. I think it would be an absolute dream come true to be able to visit Dubai, there is just so much for families to do and I’m quite sorry that we only just really began to consider it as a place we could take our children. it never really occurred to us before but having spent many hours dreaming wistfully whilst looking online I wish we’d thought of it before! It sounds like you’d really make the most of your time there so good luck with your entry.

  42. The turtle sanctuary sounds incredible as does dolphin bay and the aquarium. I love how nature and the importance of this world’s creatures are not forgotten in a place that is often associated with glitz and glamour. It sounds like there would be so much to learn about the earth, nature, history and culture and those are the real hidden treasures of Dubai.

  43. I have a friend who moved to Dubai and her photos always make me so jealous. It looks like another world out there!
My dream is for me and my family to swim with Dolphins in Dubai (it makes me tear up at the thought!). I would love to do it in a much more natural setting than in a swimming pool and I have heard there are some amazing places to swim with them! I would love to visit Atlantis too as it would be a brilliant day for everyone (and I am a big kid). I also wouldn’t mind chilling on the beach with my boys, building sandcastles too. Just heaven!

  44. I’ve never been to Dubai but would love to x
