Top Easter Family Movies


Can you believe it is almost Easter? Where is the year going? We love Easter – as well as the chocolate and treats we love spending time together watching movies. Here are our pick of top Easter Family Movies that we will be watching.


Top Easter Family Movies

Top of the list for family DVD’s for all ages has to be Hop. It is a gorgeous film about a rabbit called Hop, from the makers of Despicable Me.

There are also Easter versions of Winnie the Pooh, Peter Rabbit, and Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Oh and talking of Despicable Me – we love that too! It is on ITV 2 on Easter Monday at 12.10pm

Other great movies are:

Dumbo – ITV Easter Monday 10.50am

No explanation is needed for the most famous elephant in the world! Classic Disney animation.

Toy Story – Easter Monday BBC 1 6.45pm

The first in the series of fantastic Disney Pixar films starring Buzz Lightyear, Woody and many other lovable characters.

Shrek For Ever After – Easter Saturday BBC 1 5.15pm

The cuddly ogre is back with (our favourite) Donkey.

For older children and teens:

Freaky Friday – Film 4 Easter Saturday 12.55pm

A rebellious teenage girl is shocked to learn her recently widowed mother is planning on getting married again, but she soon sees her mothers point of view when the bickering pair magically swap bodies. Disney’s humorous comedy remake, which stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.

Hairspray Easter Saturday E4 11.30pm

The cult movie is updated and reinvented with Tracy, an overweight teenager in 1960s Baltimore, who pursues her dream of appearing on a teen dance show. However, a jealous rival and her scheming mother are determined to destroy her ambition.

Spy Kids 4 Film 4 Easter Saturday 9.00am

A secret agent retires after having a baby, while her two stepchildren remain completely unaware of who she was. They stumble on to the truth when she is called back to duty.

Epic – Film 4 Easter Saturday 10.50am

An animated film featuring a teenager who finds herself transported to a magical forest where a there is an ongoing battle between good and evil. With the voices of Colin Farrell, Amanda Seyfried and Beyoncé.

Essentials for watching our Easter family movies are a decent TV (ours is on it’s last legs) Mummy really likes the look of the Panasonic Viera TV.

Yummy snacks – we love pizza at the moment, popcorn and chocolate!

A snuggly blanket, I had a lovely Olaf one for Christmas.

  12. What a great guide, thank you for that! I remember seeing Freaky Friday in the cinema with my dad as a kid, that one had Jodie Foster as the teen in it:-) Loved that version and like the newer one too:-)

  18. Great selection of movies but where’s the Bond film… always remember Bond films over Easter but then that was in Scotland and England always had their own programme x
