Welcome to our first post in a new series – Purely Positive. Posts to bring you nothing but positive vibes, motivation and inspiration. Mummy has read a trillion posts this past week or so about other peoples New Years Resolutions, goals, aims etc and a lot are about people wanting to change. Not being happy with themselves in some way – be it their size, shape, weight or wobbly bits. Mummy’s New Year Goals were a little different, but they are goals she is really embracing.
Mummy was struck down on Friday by a nasty bug – it gave her terrible pain, then made her get unstoppable body shakes, before she was violently sick. It was very quick, and very scary. It has left Mummy, a couple of days later, weak, with severe aches and pains in different parts of her body, no energy and very tired. It frightened her, and frightened us. Being on her own with us, it reminded her of how alone we are at a time like this.
It made Mummy think about how we take our health – and our bodies – for granted. If something like this happens – or heavens forbid, something worse, where does it leave us? We can’t do anything unless we are well.
Mummy decided, almost four years ago when she was pregnant with me, to embrace her body. To stop worrying about her weight, her size and to be thankful for her body which was doing the remarkable job of nurturing and growing me! She marvelled at her first sight of me – and my perfect little tiny body, and how she had produced me (with a little help from Daddy of course!)
We are amazing! We embrace our bodies, wobbles and all, as the amazing things they are. I love running around in the nud, with everything free – it makes Mummy and my bro and sis giggle. My utter acceptance of my little body, learning about my bits and bobs and what they do! They love me as I am, and I love them as they are. I love Mummy for being my Mummy – not how thin she is, or what size she is. I don’t see her wobbly tummy or big squishy bottom! She is my Mummy and I love her just the way she is.
So, people (especially ladies) try thinking like this;
Celebrate your body for what it does. It is an incredible machine, it makes and gives birth to babies, it allows us to move, to breath, to live. It feeds our babies, it keeps us warm or cool, it gives us sight and smell, taste and touch. Every single body is amazing.
See yourself through your childs eyes. They love you no matter what. Love yourself, make peace with yourself. Accept yourself.
We are amazing, aren’t we?!

Good post! There is a lot of pressure on women to look good, it’s important that we appreciate the value of our bodies and what they can do for us – regardless of whether we have children, it is important to us all.

I love this! We are all amazing aren’t we! Very well said xxx

Aw this is a beautiful post hun, I agree we need to celebrate our lumps and bumps but it is so difficult to do so. I have a range of health issues which means that I am underweight and I don’t like it as my ribs/bones stick out and people call me names.

Such a fabulous post and it is all too easy to get suckered in to what is ‘perfect’ with the media and we shouldn’t, we should accept who we are and what we have x

A great post! And absolutely, so much energy goes into wishing bits of us were different, even hating our own bodies. I look at my daughter and her perfect tiny body and her utter acceptance of it and you’re right, it’s a perfect model. I’d much rather embrace the idea of being and staying healthy (which involves both doing some exercise and eating some chocolate for me!) than just being thin.

Moms are amazing. I never worried about the look of my body after having kids. I earned every stretch mark and jiggle. My own mom taught me that!

Out of the mouth of babes – so, so true! I’m more about being in good health instead of fitting into a size that’s totally unrealistic for me.

I’m with you on this! We definitely celebrate our bodies in every stage of our lives because what we need to strive for is seeing the beauty that experience takes us and not the superficial beauty.

I am still in awe that my very own body made my son. It is crazy! This is so touching!

This is a great message. It’s hard sometime not to let society’s pressures and stereotypes get the best of us. But I always try to focus on the positive and what I actually love about myself!

How uplifting! I have also come to terms with my body. My hubby constantly reminds me that I should be proud of my body (or belly) because in it, a life grew.

I love this post and it is so true that we should love our bodies. I believe when you get to a certain age you no longer care what we look like and it because more of a health issue. Things really changed for me after my mom had a massive heart attack in Sept. last year. Thanks for sharing this great post.

Being positive is a choice and I am getting so much better at always looking at the bright side but I remember a time when I couldn’t. I’m so thankful for progress and I encourage others to do the same. It really makes a difference.
