Having fun doesn’t have to be expensive at all! In fact, there are some pretty cheap but fun activities your whole family can do and have fun all together! It not only gives you quality family time together but also helps you to save money at this expensive time of year. Here are our Fab Five for Friday cheap family activities.
Go on a Winter Walk
Going on a winter walk is a perfect way to spend time with your family, have lots of fun, and it’s free! Why not plan an eye spy list for your walk and collect things to make a winter collage. Wrap up warm, and have races too for some exercise.
Make a family movie
If your whole family loves watching movies, why not try to make one by yourself! All you need to have is a camera, smartphone or tablet that records video (most do these days), and an idea for a movie where every one of your family will have to act something. It can be anything you think of – a story about princesses and Knights, an action movie, or just a comedy. The children will love it, and you will have so much fun. Invite the rest of your family over to the premier!
Paint like Pollock
Another super fun activity your children can do with you is to get a big canvas, cover the floor with an old sheet, get a few cans of different colour paints and paint like Pollock! I am talking about Jackson Pollock the famous painter who splashed paint all over the canvas creating very interesting paintings. Try making art just like him! It will get a bit messy (maybe do it at your Nan’s!) but you will have a unique piece of art that you all made together! (Psssst – this is my very favourite idea!)
Collect coupons
You can also have a little couponing party and ask your little ones to cut out or print all the coupons they found. It can be a nice activity for kids because they will feel important and helpful. It will save you money too! To start, go to coupons’ websites such as ChameleonJohn or Ashliegh Money Saver and find all the coupons you can use to shop cheaper. After some time of practicing and searching for the best deals, you will be able to save money super quick!
Have a karaoke night
Finally, you can have a really fun evening without leaving your home and just use the internet! Visit YouTube and look for special videos which shows the lyrics or specific karaoke ones and throw a family karaoke night! You will be able to sing your heart out and have a great time with your family as well. Perfect and free!
What are your ideas for cheap family activities?

no karaoke in this house we are all tone deaf. Agree with the winter walks though collecting items that can be talked about later, or collecting leaves and painting them.
You have a braver Nan than I am if she lets you paint in her house, painting according to this gran is for at home or in my garden.

We love cheap family fun in this house, some great ideas here! 🙂
Once a week, we have “Movie Night”, but had never thought of making our own. I guess that could be fun – although I’m camera shy lol so would leave it up to the kids, and Dad too if he’s joining in. 😀

I never thought about a Karaoke night, every evening Ben, Abbie & I have a dance around the living room to burn excess energy before she goes to bed, she loves Taylor Swift Shake it Off, so we have that on for about 45 minutes! I’m usually knackered! Also love winter walks, we tend to go on them 4 days out of 7, depending on the weather, Abbie is such a nature kid, loves being outside and spotting wildlife things 🙂 x

Oh, what lovely ideas, especially the movie! We love going for winter walks. It’s pretty difficult at the moment as my husband is out of action and it’s a struggle to take two children and two dogs out by myself. This just makes me want to do it even more I’m getting cabin fever.x
