Pop Ups Everywhere

Mummy says…

‘We are in an age of pop ups. I don’t mean pop ups on your PC – although we live in an age of those too, I mean pop up shops, and pop up restaurants popping up everywhere!

I think it is a great idea, there are so many empty shops in every high street, and any way of filling them can only be good and help the town.

Have you ever thought of opening a pop up shop or restaurant?

I daydream sometimes about having one, here are some of the ideas I have had…

Christmas Shop – decorations, wrapping paper, cards etc

Local crafts – for craftspeople to showcase their goods.

Local Mums Make – for mums who make anything to have a space to sell.

Local cafe – truly offering only very local produce.

There is a great article about setting up a pop up shop here

Obviously the ideal is to have long term businesses in the High Street, and one of our local market towns reduced rent and had rate-free terms to help businesses get started. This encouraged quality businesses to move into the town, and most of them have stayed.

I love the work Mary Portas does for the high street, and her passion for getting them up and running again.

What is your local high street look like?

  10. I’ve visited a few pop-up shops. I’m not sure about opening one myself, I did have an online shop once but actually stocking a shop, especially for just a few days sounds like a lot of work, especially if you are moving it around a lot.
