We have just returned from Bluestone Wales, in Pembrokeshire and we LOVED it!
Although we live in Pembrokeshire, we have never been to Bluestone. It offers luxury accommodation set in 500 acres of countryside, lots of indoor and outdoor activities for all ages, a spa, Blue Lagoon Water Park, the indoor Adventure Centre and much more. There are lodges, cottages and studio apartments sleeping from 2 – 14 people!
We were all very excited to see what it was like.
We arrived and checked in by car, then parked up and walked to the Adventure Centre, which is only five minutes away, to have a drink because we were a little early. You can arrive from 11am and enjoy everything before you are allowed to your lodge at 4.30. We arrived at about 4pm.
We had quick peep in The Adventure Centre which looked fab! We got the lift up to the Wild Wood Cafe, which I loved. It has lots of little cubby holes to sit at, and a big magical tree in the middle. It is like being in a woodland, with the sound of birds all around. There is a Bothy where you can chill out and watch a DVD.
Our lodge was The Grassholm – a four bedroom, three bathroom lodge. We were in Preseli View which we thought was perfect for us. It was HUGE! The bathrooms were absolutely gorgeous. All towels are supplied, and they are big fluffy ones!
The beds are the comfiest beds ever! And the bedrooms are all so big. There are lots of wardrobes and draws, plenty of room for everything you bring with you! They don’t look that big in the photos, but they are! Three bedrooms are upstairs, the main one has an en-suite bathroom, and one bedroom downstairs right next to the main bathroom. Perfect for grand parents or older, less mobile people.
All through the lodge was so warm and toasty, and had so much space. I loved it! The main living area was a large living room, kitchen and dining room which is all open-plan. Stairs lead to upstairs and a balcony overlooking the living room.In the kitchen there is a full size freezer and fridge, and a dishwasher and microwave. Mummy found everything she needed in the kitchen.
We all loved it! We all made the most of such space! There was four of us staying, my Nana and Grandad couldn’t stay after all, but they did come and visit us, and there was still loads of room! (They also fell in love with Bluestone and are hoping to visit in the spring and stay in a cottage).
I loved cuddles with Mummy in the big comfy bed. And I looked so little in the great big bath.
We all made the most of being in such a beautiful ‘house!’
We explored all around The Village and Mummy had the best coffee in Millers Bakery, I can also say the muffins were amazing too!
The Village is so pretty at night, and has a pub, restaurants, a coffee shop (Millers Bakery), a couple of shops and an outdoor play area. I was a bit too little to play on it, especially as it was wet and even icy most days.
The indoor Adventure Centre is FAB! I loved it in there – as did bro and sis! They were happy that as well as our lodge, all the public areas we visited had reliable WiFi!!
There is so much to do in the Adventure Centre, for all ages. Most of it is free. Bro and sis played on air hockey (£1 a game) and helped me to do the mini golf, ride the little bikes, build lego houses and explore (all free!) They even built our names on the lego wall.
We cannot wait to visit Bluestone Wales again soon. We would love to stay in the warmer months to really explore outside, the nature walks, the lake and go pond dipping and mini beast hunting. I would love to take part in the Messy Play sessions, and go swimming too. I was teething terribly this time, and a bit grumpy so didn’t want to go. Read all about the fantastic Blue Lagoon Water Park and what you can do there. You can do as much or as little as you want at Bluestone Wales, we chose to spend quality time together as a family, and enjoyed relaxing and gently exploring. We can see that every time we visited Bluestone could be completely different, it has so much to offer everyone.
We are HUGE CenterParcs fans – my family has been 7 times – I have already been 3! We weren’t sure how Bluestone would compare, but it is BRILLIANT!
We realised not longer after we arrived, that there you can’t compare the two. And, you don’t need to. We love CenterParcs, and now we love Bluestone Wales too! If you get the chance to go GRAB IT! You will love it!
Our Top Ten Toddler highlights of Bluestone Wales:
SO much space in the lodge. Oodles of it.
SO warm and toasty, in every room, all the time. Even though it was freezing outside.
The beds are sooooooo comfy.
Stair gates are fixed at the top and bottom of the stairs.
A travel cot is provided. Although I preferred the beds!
The most fab little highchair with no tray, it fits right up to the table – perfect for my new found passion of playdough and eating with my family.
The bath downstairs – more like a small swimming pool!
The walk to The Village – not too far for me and my little legs, and safe to walk around when there because it is car free. (Watch out for the buggies though!)
THE tastiest muffins in the bakery.
The best indoor play centre – all free!
The Blue Lagoon pool – although I was too poorly to go, Mummy is going to take me when I feel better – you don’t have to stay at Bluestone to go there 🙂
Thank you Bluestone Wales, we had a ball and hope to see you again soon 😀
