My first shoes :)

I have had a very exciting few days, on Friday 16 May, I took my first unaided steps!  I was in the lounge, with Lea and Luke. Mummy was in the kitchen. They were a long time coming! I was 19 months old, and although I have been cruising around the furniture for ages I hadn’t actually taken  step on my own. I can hold my own weight, and have been pulling myself up to standing for ages too. I walk happily if someone holds my hand, but just not on my own. The Monday before, I took one step with MeeMee too, so I’m definitely on the move!
Mummy wasn’t worried that I wasn’t walking, but other people were starting to comment, or look surprised when they asked mummy how old I was ‘oh, and not walking yet!?’ they said. She took me to see the Doctor the week before, just to make sure that there was nothing wrong with my feet and legs, although she was sure there wasn’t, she wanted to make doubly sure. The Doctor said  I was absolutely fine, there were no problems, I just didn’t want to walk on my own! Well, I knew that!

Mummy and Daddy took me to the shoe shop on the Saturday, where I had my feet measured. Luke came too. Mummy was sure I was going to shriek at having it done, but I was a very good boy, no screaming or crying, I knew it was a very exciting thing to have done. The lady said my right foot was size 4.5 and my left was size 4. She went off and came back with some different shoes, and Mummy and Daddy loved the blue and white Doodles, so did I!
The lady fitted them on me, and asked me to walk with Daddy. (Mummy was busy taking photos and video of this Very Important Occasion!) I walked a few steps with Daddy, my feet felt a bit funny, and a bit heavy.  I had never worn anything before, and pull my socks off at every chance I get. But, I LOVED my shoes, and walked around the shop, and then outside into the street to the car, with Daddy holding my hand.
We dashed home, to show the others, and is walked around the garden a bit. Mummy and Daddy then took me off for the afternoon to a new place they wanted to visit, for a walk. After a sleep, and my lunch, we went for a walk, and I walked A LOT in my new shoes! I walked on grass, and the path, holding Mummy and / or Daddy’s hand(s). I didn’t want to stop! I walked into the building when Daddy nipped to the loo and into the little shop, and all around the grass.
I know exactly where I want to walk, and if Mummy or Daddy tries to walk in a different direction, I stop, stick my bottom out, and try and go backwards!

My First Shoes are Clarks Doodles and I would thoroughly recommend them. I recommend you wear socks with them so thy don’t rub, and I haven’t had any problems with them rubbing 🙂

We got the same comments because Oscar wasn’t crawling around, but on his first birthday he finally grasped it and now there’s just no stopping him!
