Pickle says… We are lucky to live in a beautiful part of the world, as well as the outstanding natural beauty of Pembrokeshire, we have the stunning county of Carmarthenshire right next door….

5 Top Walks in Carmarthenshire

We are looking to explore more of our neighbouring county this year and have been looking at what there is to do. We have found 5 top walks in Carmarthenshire that are suitable for the whole family to enjoy:

1. Dylan Thomas’ Birthday Walk. 3.2km. With stunning views of the Taf Estuary, Dylan Thomas’ Boathouse, the Gower and across to Caldey Island and Tenby. Pop to the Dylan Thomas tea rooms for light lunches, drinks, cakes and stunning views. This is an easy walk.
2. Llansteffan. Figure of 8 Moderate Walk. 4.5km. Walk along the coast and make sure you visit the castle. There is a little tearoom by the lovely wide flat beach, serving drinks, cakes and snacks.
3. The Dinefwr Estate, Llandeilo is a National Trust property with several moderate walks. You can choose from several routes of different lengths around the woods and up to Dinefwr Castle with its magnificent views.
4. The Millennium Coastal Park from Llanelli runs through Sandy Water Park and Burry Port to Pembrey Forest. It is 22km in total and an easy walk. You could start at The Discovery Centre in Llanelli, walking through Sandy Water Park with its impressive lake through Ashpit Ponds Nature Reserve and the new  Burry Port Marina to Pembrey Forest.
5. Carter Cennen 2.5km. A moderate circular walk on the edge of The Brecon Becons National Park, with great views across all of South Wales from Pen Tair Carn. You can visit Carreg Cennen Castle in Llandeilo with its lovely tea rooms too.
Have you been on any of these walks? Mummy has been to Laugharne and Llansteffan and we have all been to Dinefwr, we are hoping to explore the others together this summer.
