Mummy says…. A couple of weeks ago I was invited to stay at The Archangel, Frome, Somerset – a delightful, quirky pub with accommodation right in the heart of Frome. I have been working with Stay in a Pub reviewing some of the gorgeous pubs they recommend and promote….
The Archangel, Frome doesn’t actually look anything special from outside – in fact you would possibly walk straight past it. Once you enter though it is completely different story.
Quirky, modern but traditional, opulent but functional, it is really difficult to find the words to accurately describe this place.
Greeted by a long covered alley which connects the two buildings, it has cosy nooks and snugs tucked away where you can enjoy a drink.
The main bar area is airy and has an awesome mezzanine floor which is the restaurant. The bar has large doors opening to a large delightful courtyard area.
Our bedroom was on the first floor, and was breathtaking. With deep purple walls, a huge archangel mural filling one wall and a very large cast iron free standing bath at the foot of the bed! Very decadent!
There was (thank goodness!) a modern separate loo and washbasin in a small en-suite bathroom.
The bed was super comfy, and there were tea and coffee facilities with a TV, stereo and a large fan (it was very hot when we visited).
We had a sumptuous breakfast in the restaurant with vegan and vegetarian options and a choice of special coffees too – including my favourite latte. Juices, pastries, cereals and fruit were freely available too.
There is no parking at The Archangel, Frome, but literally a two minute walk away is a large public car park chargeable from 9am – 6pm, so overnight parking is free.
I highly recommend The Archangel, Frome as somewhere to stay – the town on Frome is very pretty with some fantastic individual shops, and it is only a little over half an hour from Bath.
