Our Stay at The Bowl Inn, Almondsbury

Mummy says… Recently I had the absolute pleasure of being invited to stay at The Bowl Inn, Almondsbury part of the Stay in a Pub group of simply gorgeous UK pubs that offer accommodation too…

It was an extra special treat, because not only was I child free, but I took my new partner, J with me! It was the first break we had enjoyed together, and The Bowl Inn, Almondsbury was the perfect place for us.

Situated minutes outside of Bristol and not much further from Bath it is in a great location for both cities, but is in a pretty country village. J has a daughter in Bath, and I have my eldest daugter, MiMi in Bristol and we visited both.

The Bowl Inn was clearly a popular pub with locals and visitors alike, it was busy when we arrived on Friday evening, and again on Saturday evening.

With a traditional feel, but not stuffy or old fashioned, it gave us a real taste of a ‘proper English pub!’ The staff – including manager Lauren, were very friendly and welcoming, and our room was perfect. Clean, comfortable and with everything of the highest quality it was a dream to stay here.

Our double room was en-suite, and had complementary toiletries, tea and coffee facilities and bottled water. The Bowl Inn has 12 bedrooms available.

We had glorious sunshine for our visit, but we both commented that it would be a lovely plave to stay in the winter too, with the log fires and cosy seating and beams.

We enjoyed a drink or two on the Friday evening, and a full breakfast the next day. We both opted for the vegetarian and it was delicious. The veggie sausages were the best we have ever tasted!

After going into Bristol on Saturday, we enjoyed dinner at The Bowl Inn. Again, it was delicious! Hot, perfectly cooked with great service. I was so engrossed in my food that I forgot to take a oic of the menu – I had a chicken breast served on slaw with polenta and my desert was berry crumble and custard.

We had another perfect breakfast on Sunday morning before making our way back to Pembrokeshire.

We visited in mid July and our double room would have been £85.50 including breakfast for us both.

We both highly recommend The Bowl Inn, Almondsbury and would definitely stay again.

Full details on pubs throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland can be found on the Stay in a Pub website, and full details of The Bowl Inn can be found here.

We were bed and breakfast guests of The Bowl Inn, Almondsbury in exchange for my honest review, but we paid for all drinks and dinner.

  7. What a glorious looking place! We recently did something similar in Henley and it was one of the best weekend breaks we have ever had. I love the fact that this one is near to both Bristol and Bath, both places I am desperate to visit – thank you for the recommendation xx
