Family Villa Holiday in Sri Lanka

Mummy says…. as my family grows with daughters boyfriends wanting to join us on holiday as well as my parents, I think more and more that one of the best ideas for a family holiday is a villa. There are some fabulous ones available all over the world, and one that I am looking at for the future is a family villa holiday to Sri Lanka. My eldest daughter MiMi travelled afar last year which really inspired me to look further afield….

I would choose a reputable company such as Villa-Finder.com which started in 2012. They have over 1,000 villas in Bali, Phuket, Samui, Sri Lanka and Mauritius. All of their villas are inspected before they are listed online and are frequently reinspected to make sure that they are well maintained.
When you visit the website to book a villa, you request the villa you would like to stay at. A team of Travel Consultants then call you to understand your needs. such as if you are travelling with children, how old they are, if they need a pool fence, car seat, etc. A Travel Consultant will then locate the villas that best fit all these requirements.
Once you have made your booking a Guest Relation team arranges the stay for you. For example, if you need an airport transfer, or a special dinner, a day tour or an in-villa massage they can help you organise that. Instead of spending time researching various service providers yourself, you just tell them what you need. You make payment to the service providers, they do not charge for the arrangement. They offer a highly personalised service which makes them stand out from other villa companies.

Why choose a family villa in Sri Lanka with villa-finder.com:

  • For the privacy. You don’t share your villa with other guests.
  • Each villa is unique. The villas are mostly privately owned villas, so each has its own style.
  • Space. You have so much more space to enjoy compared to a hotel room.
  • A very personalised service including special meal plans, BBQ party, pool toys, etc. Everything can be arranged to suit your needs.
  • Value for money. The cost of a villa and a hotel may be comparable, but at the end of the holiday, you will save more from food and beverage bills.

They also care deeply about the environment and plant a tree for every booking made.

Where to Visit:

The coastal town of Galle, which is about two hours’ drive from the airport has Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site – a must-see attraction best explored through a walking tour. The beautiful colonial-style architecture is one of the highlights here, as well as the Dutch Reformed Church, Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum Complex and National Maritime Archaeology Museum.

An hours’ drive away is the the southern region of Sri Lanka with breathtaking coastal scenery, golden beaches, sparkling ocean waters and palm-fringed shores. You can go dolphin or turtle watching, or visit the national parks or tea estates.

Central Sri Lanka is known for its cultural sites and landscapes. The cultural capital of Kandy is home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and Sri Mahabodhi Maha Viharaya, while Nuwara Eliya – otherwise known as the Hill Country is in a beautiful countryside setting with lush tea plantations and cool springtime weather. The region is also a great base to explore the country’s Cultural Triangle of  Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura.
